A recent, truthful Charlie Sheen quote is: “I am on a drug: It’s called Charlie Sheen. It’s not available because if you try it once, you will die. Your face will melt off and your children will weep over your exploded body.”
If you’ve read The Heart of Addiction or Addiction-Proof Parenting, then you know that addiction is enslaving sin. In Charlie’s case, it is idolatry. He is living to please himself as a “god” but not living for the Lord or others. He is basically living a selfish lifestyle and it is only hurting himself and others. It’s truly sad. Let’s pray for him to turn away from his sin and turn to Christ!
I’m glad we are seeing all of this attention on Mr. Sheen’s addiction because it only proves biblical truth which calls “drunkenness” a sin (Eph. 5:18). What the world has renamed a “disease”, God still calls sin and idolatry (I Cor. 6:9-11) for which He will punish in eternity.
So pray for Charlie. Since it’s marriage month in this blog, pray for his marriage (ex-wives) and family. Pray for repentance which can only be granted by God (Rom. 2:4).
One article I found below calls his idolatry a “form of cancer” but is that a fair comparison? Does a cancer patient choose to get sick? We know for a fact that someone struggling with an addiction is CHOOSING to drink or drug though the problem does become enslaving to them! Here’s the article link below:
Here is a guy who makes more money than any other actor currently as the highest paid tv actor and yet that does not make him happy! Christians know only a relationship with Christ truly brings joy!
His dad calls it “a disease of addiction” but the idea of disease is only a THEORY so he should say it is “like a disease” not that it is a disease since it’s not been proven to be a disease! I love how the world can call theories facts but criticize us when we proclaim the FACTS about the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ who appeared to over 500 people after His resurrection (I Cor. 15:6).
But understand that Charlie’s statements about ‘Charlie being his drug of choice’ (my summary of his words) simply demonstrate the Bible is true. In his sinful state, Charlie is speaking the truth!
