Philippians 2:3-4 (ESV): “Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.“**
In EVERY Christian relationship, God calls us to think of the OTHER person MORE than we think of ourselves.
This includes husband-wife, father-son, mother-daughter, parent-child, child-parent, employer-employee (aka master-slave), friend-friend, church member-pastor, pastor-church member, etc. In ALL of these relationships, God calls us to think of the other person ahead of ourselves!
Think about this the next time you are being selfish or self-focused in a relationship. Put the other person’s needs & desires first. See what the Lord will do when you do that!
